Duffypalooza/Adelepalooza (or, girls with smokes)

I have a total girl crush on Duffy. Her voice, her hair, her clothes. I wish I had all of them. But, because I don't and can only crush out on her, here are some Youtube clips of her singing and sounding all awesome and stuff.

And then there's Adele. Her voice, her hair, her clothes. I wish I had all of them also. [Can you sense a theme here?]

See. Not everything I listen to is trash.

[And, yes, yes. We all know smoking is bad mm'kay. Don't do it. Or do it. Whatever, just listen to the songs already.]

Royal wedding

I love the video below of the churchy-dude cartwheeling ...

I bet that's not easy to do in that big old dress of his.

I loved watching it all - but I'm glad it's over and done with. Bet they all are too.

And, was it just me or did the Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice look like they were trying to Helena Bonham-Carter it up all over the place?

To market, to market

In a jam. And possibly a pickle.

Some shots from the Bridport market over Easter.

Songs that get stuck in your head: Jessie J "Price Tag"

I don't know who this Jessie J girl is, but I heart her fringe and I've had this song stuck in my head for a good six weeks now.

And here's a live version on Jools Holland:

Can I just say that I fully hate what she's wearing? Yes? Good (Jeans, belt, shoes, top with fringing, whole kit and caboodle). Let's not even mention the trilling she does in this version.

Anyway, still have the song stuck in my head. Still like the radio version, call me what-you-will.

My long weekend as a senior citizen

Some of Nan's things.

Well, haven't I just had the most glorious senior citizen type of long weekend? (Don't worry, I'll answer this myself: Yes. Yes I have.) I knitted, I read (I didn't bake, but that might come later on in the week), I took photos (that counts as a senior citizen-type activity, no?), discussed the upcoming royal wedding with my nan and I slept (that definitely counts).

I went to the local pub at Bridport with my mum and dad and my nan. We all put two dollars on the pokies. Mum and I lost, dad and nan won.

I went to the casino in Launceston with mum and dad on the way back home to Boat Harbour. Dad and I drank cappuccinos while mum had another go at the pokies (she was more successful this time around).

And, finally, I went to bed at 9.30 last night. Which I think suitably caps off my long weekend as a senior citizen.

Cheep cheep

I'm off to Bridport with mum and dad to visit Nan for the long weekend. I'm going to take my knitting along so she can check it out and say how awesome it is. I think she'll be really pleased that I'm knitting. She's very skilled with the needles herself after all.

Have a safe and happy Easter that is hopefully filled with chocolate, family and all good things.

How to be a domestic goddess

  1. Buy the book.
  2. Watch the marathon on the teevee.
  3. Look at the pictures in the book.
  4. Read the words in the book.
  5. Look at the pictures in the book again.
  6. Go make a cup of coffee.
  7. Possibly, maybe think about buying an apron before lurching into full domestic goddess attempt, in order to get the look just so.
  8. Possibly, maybe think about painting the kitchen and moving a few cupboards around, in order to get the look just so.
  9. Pick up the book.
  10. Put down the book.
  11. Take photos of the book.
  12. Eat several pieces of chocolate.
The End.

Weathered and worn

That's actually a pretty fair description of how I feel this afternoon! Weathered and worn.

Weathered, probably because I've spent the whole day outside at the Athletics Carnival at work. But, the sun was shining and it was warm and there was no rain, so it's a good kind of weathered. I'm a bit pink. Honestly can't remember the last time I was in enough sun to get burnt. Certainly not in the UK! And there was a lot of participation which is always an awesome thing to have.

And worn, probably because it's the last few working days before the Easter break. The kids are ratty. The teachers are ratty. Everyone really really really needs this break. I didn't really care either way about whether Tasmania goes to four terms, but if I had to have my say right now? I'd say DO IT DO IT DO IT! But it's a good kind of worn because it comes from doing something I really do enjoy and that I love doing and makes me fulfilled and happy.

So sometimes weathered and worn can be a good thing.

For the win: a sticker and a red moleskine

Today mum and I went to the Made With Love Market Bazaar before an epic grocery trip. It was very busy, lots of people inside, lots of lovely goodies.

You can call me the last of the big spenders. I bought an awesome sticker from Michelle for a whole two bucks. It looks fan-fricking-tastic on my red moleskine. Look! See!

Even though I didn't spend up big at this market, I'm planning on getting one (or maybe more) of Michelle's brilliant art works as a birthday present. Mum and dad are shouting me one, and I've got a feeling I might just be buying one as a present to myself as well. I'm getting pretty excited because I think they'll look ace in my house (once my tenant moves out and the painting is done and I can move back in, that is).

Also, I've been neglecting the knitting lately, I hadn't picked up the needles in eons and eons. But last week I started a new scarf (yes, yes, another one). This one is stocking stitch, which I'm gradually getting better (or more quicker) at. It's a lot harder than I remember, so I'm pretty sure that when I used to do it, I was doing it wrong. I've also completely neglected Stitch and Bitch. So much guilt. So need to go this week. So hope I make it.
